This year, National Apprenticeship Week runs from the 5th to the 11th of February, and we are delighted to be taking part!

If you’re thinking about starting an Apprenticeship but are worried because it’s been a long time since you were involved in any type of course or formal study, then find out how your Library and Knowledge Service at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals can help support you.

During the week we are offering two 30-minute virtual library taster sessions, where you can join us on MS Teams to find out about the resources, training and services that we can provide to help you during your Apprenticeship.

  • Tuesday 6th Feb 2.00pm – 2.30pm: Virtual Library Taster Session (via MS Teams. Contact [email protected] for an invite)
  • Wednesday 7th Feb 11am – 11.30am: Virtual Library Taster Contact [email protected]  for an invite)

For those working at Whiston or St Helens, our colleagues in Whiston Library and Knowledge Service are also running Virtual Library Taster Sessions.

  • Monday 5th Feb 11.30am - 12.00: Virtual Library Taster Session (via MS Teams. Contact [email protected] for an invite)
  • Thursday 8th Feb 4pm - 4.30pm: Virtual Library Taster Session (via MS Teams. Contact [email protected] for an invite)

We can offer a wide range of resources, as well as offering 1:1 support for anyone undertaking an Apprenticeship.

Please contact us at [email protected] or by telephone on 01704 704202

What Our Library Users Are Saying...

"Apprentices now have greater access to resources, not only at College or University but in the workplace. The benefits are not solely logistical; the resources and services available to them via the Library & Knowledge Service are current, relevant and varied."

"The library provided me with the evidence base to support a service development of developing a early discharge detox policy. This has improved patient clinical outcomes. This also reduces length of stay and re-attendance at A&E."

"Literature searches carried out by the library staff assisted in the development of a new education program for unregistered staff in response to the Francis report."

"The library carried out a literature search and provided my team with a wealth of relevant information from a variety of different sources that we were able to use within our poster presentation."

"The information I receive has a positive impact in my role as a Non-Executive Director. Over the past year in post I have found the library alerting service to be an invaluable resource it is a great way to be kept informed via the on-line platform that I can access at times to suit."
